PleitVrij, a collaborative project of the VU University Amsterdam and the University of Groningen (RUG), will be presented today at the OCW Kennisfestival as a successful educational innovation. In 2018, the project received a subsidy from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. PleitVrij was one of the best-rated and most successful projects receiving funding.

Sylvia Moes, Innovation Manager Education UB, presents the Virtual Reality project, in which law students from both universities meet in a virtual courtroom and can practice different roles within a realistic court environment. By means of a specially developed app, participants receive direct feedback from teachers and fellow students. PleitVrij has been developed to bridge the gap between academic law teaching and professional practice. By taking on the role of lawyer, prosecutor or judge in a realistic-looking court environment, students can prepare themselves for the daily practice of the courtroom.
