Plan your visit
A large portion of our collection can be consulted digitally from home. By installing the Library Access plugin you will automatically receive notification while browsing if digital content is accessible for you. For more information go to our page on access from outside the campus.
If it is necessary for you to borrow a book from our collection, you can make a reservation via LibSearch. You will receive notification as soon as the book is ready for pickup (don’t forget to check your spam box).
Students can contact us to make an appointment for a visit or to provide us with an address to send the required documents. An appointment is only possible if the required materials are not suitable for delivery by mail or if you require more than four items. Books cannot be picked up without an appointment.
VU employees may visit the library to pick up reservations without an appointment, taking into account the VU visitors regulations that are in effect for the main building. Visitor numbers to the campus are currently being regulated, making delivery time for reservations dependent on the number of people on campus.
IFor more information on book reservations and delivery services, please contact us on email@example.com or call us on 020 598 5200.
Our opening times have been changed until further notice. Monday to Friday from 9.30 am till 4.00 pm. The Medical Library in the VUmc hospital will remain closed until further notice.
If you are currently working on your thesis and need access to many books and reference works, we suggest you first contact your supervisor or teacher to discuss possible alternatives. If no alternatives are available, you can make an appointment to consult books on site at the university library. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 598 5200.
If studying from home is not an option for you, you can make use of our temporary facilities on campus. You can find more information on the VU website under Corona FAQ’s. Unfortunately, all study places in the VU main building are closed until further notice.
Special Collections and archives
VU students and staff members can make an appointment to consult our special collections and archives on site. You can make an appointment through email@example.com or by calling 020 598 5200.
Due to campus entry restrictions, the university library will remain closed to all other members until further notice. Reservations can still be made, but will only be available for pickup once the restrictions have been lifted. All paid memberships will be extended free of charge for the period that we remain closed.
The university library service desk is available online and ready to help you as quickly as possible with your enquiries.
