You can get access from home to the e-journals and e-resources in the Library.
- VU University students, faculty and staff log in with their VU-net-id.
In Internet Explorer your VU-net-id must be preceded by VU\ (capital letters VU followed by a backslash) without spaces (example: VU\abc123).
- VUmc staff log in with their VUmc account (PDF).

To make sure configuration changes have taken effect, exit your current browser session and restart the browser.
When you've adjusted the browser configuration and click on a link to an e-journal or e-resource, a popup appears with the text "proxy...".
you will be asked to enter your username and password.
- For VU students (incl. medical students) and staff this text is "proxy.vu.nl"; you can log on with your VU-net-id, in Internet Explorer preceded by VU\
- For VUmc staff (not medical students) this text is "proxy.vumc.nl"; you can log on with your VUmc account
Note! For technical reasons, access to some resources is restricted to VU campus and VUmc.

The login screen does not appear
|9 out of 10 times the problem is the browser configuration. Please check your browser configuration carefully (see above). Then close all browser windows and restart the browser.
Tablets and smartphones
On-campus access is possible if you can log on to the campusnet. See the instructions for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch above.
Firewalls/routers sometimes give problems. However, this lies outside the scope of the Library. Please check the instructions of the firewall/router.
A proxy server at your workplace is blocking access. Companies, organizations, and some Internet service providers can use proxy servers for their internet access; these proxy servers blocks access to the VU proxy server, because only one proxy server can be active at a time. Contact your system admin or Internet service provider's helpdesk.
The login screen does not appear in Firefox 30
|Firefox 30 default blocks access to certain sites. Use Chrome or Safari, or change the default setting in Firefox 30.
You can change the setting in Firefox 30 as follows:
The login screen appears but your password is refused
|See if the right text is in the popup: "proxy.vu.nl" for VU students (incl. medical students) and staff; "proxy.vumc.nl" for VUmc staff. If not, adjust the proxy configuration URL again. For VU students and staff this should end "...ubvu.pac"; for VUmc staff "...vumc.pac".
In Internet Explorer your VU-net-id must be preceded by VU\ (example: VU\abc123).
The login screen appears but your password is refused; after three attempts you get the message, (VU-net-id) "FOUT/Cache toegang niet toegestaan" or (VUmc account) "The page cannot be displayed"
|The problem lies in your password. Try to change your password:
