Frequently asked questions LibSearch: searching

  1. What is the best way to start my search?
We would advise commencing your search in LibSearch, the international search environment that provides access to the Dutch search environment Picarta. By searching in LibSearch, you have access to ‘realtime’ up to date information. Picarta does not provide this service. If the item you are searching for is not available in the VU collection, you can request it by clicking the button:

    knop Item aanvragen

This page provides access to Picarta and also allows you to place an Inter Library Loan (ILL). Anyone with a personal ILL account can continue using it.

  2. The easiest way to find the title of an e-journal? (title known)
Titles of e-journals from the UBVU collection can easily be found via Library links > e-Journals A-Z; or use the free app BrowZine (Appstore / Google play) - which enables easy access to thousands of e-journals in the University Library collection on a mobile device (iPad, iPhone, Android)
